Part of my job as a Member of Parliament is to seek to understand the businesses that operate in my constituency and which contribute to our local economy. All face challenges but some have faced, and overcome, very significant challenges indeed.
In December 2014, I visited RepairTech, based in Southam. I visited not long after the company suffered a catastrophinc fire that destroyed over 18,000 square feet of its main premises. All test equipment, stock and parts were destroyed as ten fire crews fought to save the building.
Established by Kenilworth resident Richard Costello, RepairTech specialises in the repair of consumer electronics for many of the UK’s leading brands, including John Lewis, Nintendo, Samsung and Toshiba and has establishing a first class reputation.
During my first visit I was struck by the determination and commitment of Richard and his staff who, after only four weeks, were operating at 80% of pre-fire capacity. Two and a half years later I saw that steely determination once again. Not only has Repairtech managed to retain all of its customers, it has grown and recruited a host of new clients whilst expanding the product portfolio it services.
2016 was a record growth year for RepairTech and the company is clearly going from strength to strength as a significant employer, with members of staff from Southam, Kenilworth and elsewhere in the area.
In 2014 I was hugely impressed by RepairTech's resilience and determination to succeed as a business when they faced very challenging circumstances. I am delighted to have my impression confirmed on this most recent visit and congratulate RepairTech for all their well deserved success and wish them well in the future.
