Steel Industry (Special Measures) Bill

Last Saturday, Parliament was recalled to debate the future of UK steelmaking. While there’s wide agreement that action is needed to protect virgin steel production, I raised concerns about rushed legislation and granting unnecessarily sweeping powers to the Government, including the ability to seize assets, enter premises by force, and impose criminal penalties.
