Safer Internet Day

Today is Safer Internet Day, celebrated in 170 countries around the world. This year's theme is exploring the safe and responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI).

AI has great potential, but it must be introduced safely and securely. With many young people now using AI online, it is vital they have the skills to make safe choices when using smart technology.

The UK hosted the world's first AI Safety Summit in November 2023, and the UK AI Safety Institute continues important research to enhance the safety of frontier AI systems. We must continue to strike the right balance between innovation and the protections necessary to keep people safe online.
