Climate change is one of the biggest challenges we face, and we should all be proud that the UK became the first major economy to halve carbon emissions since 1990.
I agree that tackling climate change is a global priority. I therefore disagree with the recent policy announcement that the next Conservative government would scrap the Climate Change Act. I think this would be a mistake.
However, I understand that – when presented with the National Emergency Briefing’s request for a televised briefing on climate change – a Government Minister responded that, if such a briefing is necessary, it would be for broadcasters to arrange one.
